The McAllen Chamber of Commerce has started a new “Green Hotel Program.” This program encourages hotels, among other businesses, to support environmentally responsible practices. These practices include reducing the amount of waste, water and power used by hotels and their guests. The McAllen Green program is a voluntary, affordable program that certifies, recognizes and promotes businesses making a commitment to improve operations to reduce environmental impact.
Utilizing Green Hotel practices suggested by the Green Hotel Program, such as linen & towel exchange cards, can save hotels up to $6.50 a day per occupied guest room; and that is only discussing card programs. Other green practices will help to save even more money, simultaneously saving our planet as well.
The following hotels have committed themselves to green practices and are recognized by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and the “McAllen Green Hotel” program for their efforts in environmental and economic sustainability:
