McAllen, TX, November 22, 2010- To celebrate this holiday season, the McAllen Chamber of Commerce is giving away prizes including event tickets, free weekends and gift certificates.
One of the contests, Broadway in McAllen, offers free season tickets to New York Broadway shows in McAllen. McAllen shows include The Color Purple, a soul-stirring musical based on the classic Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker and the moving film by Steven Spielberg; Legally Blonde, the famous movie turned into a musical follows the determined sorority y girl, Elle Wood and her path to self discovery; MAMMA MIA! Writer Catherine Johnson’s sunny, funny, musical tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise.  On the eve of her wedding, a daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father brings 3 men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago; Riverdance, the thunderous celebration of Irish music, song and dance that has tapped its way onto the world stage thrilling millions of people around the globe, will play one Farewell Performances at the State Farm Arena.
Second, “Concurso de Navidad en McAllen” gives our Mexican neighbors and visitors a chance to register to pamper themselves with a free weekend in McAllen at Springhill Suites, along with a gift package courtesy of Dillard’s in La Plaza Mall.
There’s a contest for artists to create works to help promote the city and area. Three winning artists will have their works published and displayed.
 Nature lovers have a chance to win a Christmas Birding Package. This package includes 5 nights at Casa Gomez and 5 days birding with local birding expert Roy Rodriguez.
